At IKC Sloterdijk we offer childcare where babies and toddlers are given all the space to grow at the daycare (0-4 years) and the preschool (2 – 4 years). 

Based on a theme, children choose their own activities. Our early childhood educators provide materials, observe, and encourage children to move, explore, and create freely. 

The youngest children, in a safe and secure environment, get to meet and interact with children of different ages. Together, they engage in fun and stimulating activities that gradually prepare them for primaryschool. All Through play.

From baby to Primary School 

At IKC Sloterdijk, childcare and education are closely integrated at one location, providing a continuous learning path for children from 0 to 13 years. This ensures a smooth transition to primary education. Rather than focusing on age or group, we prioritize each child’s individual development and growth.

Daycare

Children of different ages learn and play together in groups, just as they would at home or in a family. The daycare is open from 7:30 to 18:30.

At our preschool, also known as early childhood education, we guide children from the age of 2 through a structured learning program until they start primary school. The preschool ensures that the transition to primary school is easier and more pleasant for them.

Is your child already in school and are you looking for fun and challenging after-school care? 

IKC Sloterdijk offers after-school and holiday care for children aged 4 to 13, with a wide range of activities that stimulate creativity and broaden their horizons. There is plenty to choose from, because after all, it is their free time!

Who is the BSO (after-school care) for? 
Our BSO is for children aged 4 to 13. After school, they can relax, play and participate in creative and fun activities. 

The BSO is open on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 14:15 to 18:30. During school holidays, it is open from 8:45 to 18:30.

Frequently Asked Questions About Childcare:

Child’s age

The first difference is the age at which children can be registered. Daycare is for babies from 0 years old. Preschool is for children from 2 years old. 

For whom?

Daycare is accessible to every child between the ages of 2 and 4. Parents often bring their child to daycare when they are at work. 

The aim of preschool is to further stimulate the development of children outside the home and to prepare them for primary school. Language development is often given extra attention and the program and working method of preschool are in line with those of groups 1 and 2. This makes the transition to primary school easier. 

Days and times 

The daycare is open from 7:00 to 18:30. You choose how many days you want your child to go to daycare. 

Your child will only go to preschool in the morning and on average 16 hours per week. 

We work with vertical groups at daycare. On the one hand, this is a group of 0 – 2 years and on the other hand groups of 0 – 4 years. Where your child is placed depends on the moment of registration and the number plus the ages of children who have already registered. We will discuss with you personally in which group there is room for your child. 

A vertical group means that children of different ages are in the same group.

At IKC Sloterdijk we follow the child instead of determining how or with what the child will play. So there is a lot of room for discovering and experiencing for yourself. In addition, children benefit from rhythm and regularity, which is why we follow a fixed daily rhythm and for the little ones the rhythm of home. Within this, children can move freely. 

The daytime in a nutshell: 

Until 9:30: Walk-in. Parents and children come in. Free play. 
9:30: At the table. Eating fruit, drinking and singing songs. 
10:00: The little ones go to bed. Toddlers go outside to play. 
11:30: At the table for lunch. Healthy sandwiches or vegetarian hot meal. 
12:00 – 14:30: Toddlers and preschoolers go to bed. Children who do not need to sleep can participate in a development-oriented
activity or play freely inside and outside.
14:30 p.m.: Children get out of bed and the little ones go back to sleep. 
16:00 p.m.: All children get out of bed again. 
16:00–17:00 p.m.: Development-oriented activity or free play. 
From 16:00 p.m.: Parents can pick up their child again.

Your child will have priority for childcare at IKC Sloterdijk if one or more brothers or sisters are already attending our daycare or school. For the BSO, your child will also have priority if he or she is already attending our school. 

Yes. If your child is in daycare or preschool with us, you still have to officially register him or her for primary school. Your child will then have priority over other children when it comes to a place in group 1. 

Registration is done via an official preference form that you will receive by post from the municipality of Amsterdam from the moment your child turns 3. You can find more information about this procedure on this page. 

At this moment, children can only be registered for the BSO if they are also registered for our school.
