We believe that experience is the fastest way to learn
Our approach:
We believe that children learn best when they are actively involved, allowed to explore, investigate, and experience things for themselves.
That is why learning at IKC Sloterdijk goes beyond language and mathematics. It goes beyond learning from books that leave little to the imagination and beyond repeating the same exercises, even when a child is capable of more or needs extra practice.
Children learn in mixed-age groups, where they inspire and support one another. They develop social and cognitive skills naturally, often learning far more than we realise, just not in the traditional way.
We encourage them to think creatively and provide them with the skills and confidence to find solutions on their own.

In addition to basic skills and knowledge, children at IKC Sloterdijk learn by experiencing and discovering for themselves. We see reading comprehension as the ‘gateway to the world’ and good arithmetic (math), weighing and measuring as the foundation for creating and thinking independently.
The basics are important, but what comes next makes the difference. Finding out for yourself and understanding what you can do. Experiencing how you gather information and develop your own insights. Discovering, processing and applying that knowledge. This is how children learn skills for life. Skills that truly matter. After all, what exists today may soon be outdated, and no one knows exactly what the future will bring.
Experience, feel and see for yourself?
The doors are open!
