Going to primary school for the first time

Around your child’s third birthday, you can register them for primary school. The municipality of Amsterdam will send you the school preference form and the brochure ‘Starting Primary School’, which explains step by step how to register your child at your preferred school using the preference form. Placement is allocated according to specific rules.

Good to know: even if your child already attends the preschool or daycare at IKC Sloterdijk, you still need to officially register them for primary school at the IKC.
