This is how we work
Continuous learning path from 0 to 13 years
At an IKC, childcare, education and after-school care work together intensively at one location with the aim of: a continuous learning path for the child from 0 to 13 years. Instead of the group or age, we take the development and growth of your child as a starting point.
We offer a rich day program with experiential learning, English as a second language, self-discovery, open spaces, mixed groups, learning at a level and working in a community.

Designed from a vision
IKC Sloterdijk is located on the ground floor and the first floor of the sustainable residential tower ‘Floating Gardens’ in Amsterdam Sloterdijk. Our building is designed in such a way that children can learn at their own level and pace. They do this at the daycare in vertical groups and at school in both their home group, where children of different ages sit together, and in the learning squares where they – depending on their task or the working method – find a place themselves or work together.

Unique theme rooms
Unique to our building and our IKC are the Theme Rooms. These are separate rooms for nature, creativity, visual arts, music, technology and cooking.
These rooms make cross-curricular lessons even more possible. Children discover the connection between subjects and see and experience what you can create and realise with the knowledge you have acquired. That motivates them to learn even more!
The role of the teacher
With us, a teacher does not teach the entire group as standard. Children receive instruction and explanation in small groups, at their own level and then work independently or with each other. The teacher walks around the learning square and answers questions, guides children and observes so that he or she can attune even better to what is needed.
